It may seem like it takes a lot to care for your skin to diminish the damage from chemicals, pesticides, and pollution that we all encounter on a daily basis. It’s shocking to learn how common skin and beauty care products can degrade our health and accelerate the aging process. Our health is being assaulted not only with the chemicals that leave traces of their existence through the inflammation, sagging, and wrinkles they leave behind, but every cell in our body may be experiencing that same fate. Luckily, recent scientific discoveries that address how we age, and what we can do about it, are unlocking another one of Mother Nature’s brilliant secrets.
The latest findings in the science of autophagy — a process every cell in your body does to clean and repair damaged parts so that you can be your healthiest at any age, reveal that certain lifestyle practices and foods work to enhance your autophagy. Plus there are certain key ingredients (you may already have in your pantry!) that you can apply topically to boost your skin’s autophagy, leaving you with radiant, beautiful skin. As usual, we have to look no further than Mother Nature for some powerful answers to the health challenges we face.
This simple facemask contains potent inflammation-fighting ingredients that will help to slow down the aging process while enhancing your autophagy from the outside in. Studies show the polyphenol EGCG found in matcha green tea powder acts an anti-inflammatory for the skin. Also, choosing raw, local honey for your cosmetic needs not only is healthy for you but also supports the natural ecosystem of where you live. Honey is a humectant — a crucial ingredient in cosmetics that have a natural ability to attract water and moisturize the skin, leaving you with a soothing glow. You can accomplish so much with using beautiful oils in your skincare. Especially if your skin tends to be oily, including it will only add to the antioxidant, moisturizing and anti-aging effects of this sweet honey face mask. With ingredients so safe (and delicious!) you could eat it!
