Choose Dark Chocolate Over Milk Chocolate
Many of us think of chocolate as a rich, creamy indulgence that we must reserve for special occasions. When you swap out milk chocolate for dark chocolate, however, you no longer have to feel guilty about your undying love. While milk chocolate does contain some cocoa, which contains flavonoids that aid in reducing cell damage and improving vascular function, it is diluted by the addition of milk, cream and sugar. Satisfy your craving for sweets instead with a small piece of dark chocolate.
Dark chocolate (specifically the cocoa component) can help fight against cell damage that happens in your body because it contains youth-boosting antioxidants. With a high percentage of cacao (65% or more) and little to no sugar, you’ll be upping the nutritional value and eating chocolate in its truest form. Rather than eating it on its own, Make something decadently chocolate, like my Brownie bites or my Avocacao mint smoothie. You can even add cacao to sauces, like a mole sauce, or you can add to coffees and smoothies as well. This will allow you to get in those flavonoids throughout your day in a very delicious way.
